Man Utd defender Harry Maguire wants to stay at the club, but difficulties in renewing his contract could force him to leave, according to the Daily Mail journalist Chris Wheeler.

The 32-year-old’s current contract expires in June, but he has already been approached by several teams, and Wheeler said The united position that Maguire ‘may have no choice’ but to leave Old Trafford if he gets a better offer elsewhere:

“Both parties want Harry Maguire to stay, and he wants to stay. The decision will depend mainly on his salary and the extent to which it could be reduced, as well as the length of the contract, taking into account his age.”

“Maguire has already received offers from other clubs, including AC Milan. If an offer elsewhere proves significantly better than Manchester United’s, he may have no choice but to move.”

A pay cut will have to be accepted by Maguire

It appears Man Utd are unwilling to continue paying the centre-back £190,000-a-week, and a lot could depend on it. his desire to lower his current salary.

From the looks of it, Maguire won’t be offered a long-term contract either due to his age. It remains to be seen whether he would agree to an extension of one or two years.

Man Utd have already made decisions on 2 other high earners

Casemiro will be fired this summer, despite his excellent form and the club having the option to extend his stay for a further 12 months. United don’t want to continue paying him £350,000 a week. If you want to support your club by purchasing the latest home kit, visit the official store.

The Red Devils also have the option to extend Jadon Sancho’s stay at Old Trafford for another twelve months, but they are now prepared to land him on a free transfer, rather than risk keeping him and paying his wages for another year.
